Laurent Jacob

Laurent Jacob est commissaire d’expositions, administrateur Espace 251 Nord depuis 1983 et directeur du Comité artistique des Résidences/ateliers Vivegnis International (RAVI) depuis 2012. Laurent Jacob fonde avec Johan Muyle, en 1983 à Liège la structure de promotion et de diffusion d’art contemporain, Espace 251 Nord Asbl. A travers elle, il organise plus de 150 expositions ou événements en Belgique, en Europe (France, Italie, Pays-Bas, Portugal, etc.). Laurent Jacob se donne pour mission la prospection des nouveaux talents en Fédération-Wallonie Bruxelles et en Europe et la promotion de l’art auprès de tous les publics : -Participations fréquentes à la Biennale des arts visuels de Venise (depuis 1986) ou à la foire ArtBrussels (depuis 1996) pour promouvoir le travail des artistes auprès des professionnels du milieu de l’art ; -Expositions dans des lieux improbables (sous-sol de la Place Saint-Lambert en 1985, les anciens établissements Old England de 1993 à 1995, l’ancien Entrepôt Royal de Bruxelles en 2000/01, des chantiers du centre ville de Liège en 2006, etc.) pour amener l’art au plus près des citoyens. / Laurent Jacob is an exhibition curator, administrator of Espace 251 Nord since 1983 and director of the Artistic Committee of Résidences/ateliers Vivegnis International (RAVI) since 2012. In 1983, Laurent Jacob and Johan Muyle founded Espace 251 Nord Asbl, a structure for the promotion and distribution of contemporary art in Liège. Through it, he has organised more than 150 exhibitions or events in Belgium and Europe (France, Italy, the Netherlands, Portugal, etc.). Laurent Jacob's mission is to prospect for new talent in the Federation-Wallonie Brussels and in Europe and to promote art to all audiences: -Frequent participation in the Biennale of Visual Arts in Venice (since 1986) or in the ArtBrussels fair (since 1996) to promote the work of artists to professionals in the art world; -Exhibitions in unlikely places (the basement of Place Saint-Lambert in 1985, the former Old England establishments from 1993 to 1995, the former Royal Warehouse in Brussels in 2000/01, building sites in the centre of Liège in 2006, etc.) to bring art closer to the public.
